Who we are
New Aunts is the indie rock collaboration between lifelong friends Joseph Tapiro and Matthew Bishop, who reunited in Los Angeles after nearly two decades of working together on various music projects. Originating from Stockton, CA, the duo fuses Joseph's catchy melodic songwriting with Matthew's Grammy-nominated production expertise to create a unique indie-rock/pop/punk sound rooted in vulnerability and authenticity.
With Joseph being a protégé of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Chuck D of Public Enemy and Matthew bringing his acclaimed engineering background, New Aunts creates music that adds a distinctive new dimension to the indie rock landscape while celebrating the nuanced, in-between moments that define authentic human experience.
